The closest, somewhat modern example I can make is the 2007 movie Trick ‘r Treat, as you really can’t have that film without the season of Halloween itself. We get some awesome shots of kids going trick-or-treating, and wearing those creepy masks, and it actually feels like the season. Instead, they thought the best direction for the franchise was to make it more of an anthology series that centered around the actual holiday.įor this reason, Halloween III: Season of the Witch goes hard into the Halloween season, as the whole plot centers around it–mostly when it comes to children.
